Our Story

How it all started...

First Baptist has been sharing the Love of Jesus to the Marlin community for 173 years. First Baptist Church was organized April 10, 1852, by the pioneer preacher, evangelist and patriot, the Reverend Z. N. Morrell.  At the time Marlin was just a mere village county seat of a new county (Falls County) organized two years early in 1850.

Expanding the vision...

John 20:21 says, So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” (NKJV)
First Baptist Church of Marlin members believe Jesus Commissioned the Church to be sent out by God to share the Love of God with the world. We believe that Jesus came seeking those which are lost. Luke 19:10 says, "for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
We believe that Jesus did not come to condemn the world but to save the world. John 3:17 says, "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."
